Bizon applauds transportation grant

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. John Bizon, M.D. announced on Monday that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has awarded a $340,000 grant to the city of Albion for road improvements.

Bizon said the money from the Transportation Economic Development Fund will go toward crushing and shaping 0.63 miles of North Clark Street/29 Mile Road from East North Street to B Drive North located in the city of Albion and Sheridan Township.

“This project means increased quality of life for local residents and improved job growth,” said Bizon, R-Battle Creek. “I am happy MDOT saw the value in this development.”

Bizon said the grant includes a local match of $310,000.

The goal of the Transportation Economic Development Fund is to support economic growth in Michigan through transportation investments critical to developments that create and retain jobs in eight target industries.

Transportation Economic Development Fund staff evaluates projects up to five times a year, selecting those that provide the greatest return on investment and best meet the directives established by the Legislature. This activity is an essential tool in attracting and retaining jobs for Michigan.
